Chef Rick Moonen, also known as “The Godfather of Sustainability,” is passionate about sustainable seafood and is one of the leaders in the industry. We were thankful to have Chef Rick, a crucial part of our culinary board, as one of the judges for our first Kahala Klash.

Chef Rick Moonen graduated first in his class from The Culinary Institute of America in 1978. His current role is as Master Development Chef for Perry’s Restaurants at Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille. In this role, Chef Rick oversees menu development, quality control, and efficiency for all 15 of the company’s locations alongside Perry’s corporate chef. In addition to his current job, Chef Rick is also part of the ocean-friendly seafood task force at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. He continues to educate on the importance of sustainable seafood for the planet, the oceans and for people to consume.

While being on the Forever Oceans culinary board, Chef Rick Moonen has interviewed various chefs, restaurateurs and important people in the industry on the Ocean-Raised Podcast.
