Field Technician (Marine/Mechanical)
Location: Puerto Armuelles
Summary: Forever Oceans is looking for an adventurous and technically strong Marine Technician to help manage and maintain fish production and automation systems for the marine aquaculture industry. You’ll be joining a highly-motivated, multi-disciplinary team focused on revolutionizing the way fish is produced. Successful candidates will have prior experience managing and maintaining electromechanical systems in a marine environment.
Field Technicians will report directly to the regional Field Service Lead. Field Technicians works as part of a 2-4 person disciplinary field service team to provide product commissioning, installation, preventative maintenance, and break fix support for all Forever Oceans production systems. Responsibilities include:
Provide scheduled preventive maintenance services to Forever Oceans’ fish production systems.
Support on-demand corrective, 24/7 emergency, and other farm operations in assigned areas as required.
Ensure work orders are completed and properly documented in a timely manager.
Follow Field Service Lead’s directives and prioritization to ensure uninterrupted operation of Forever Oceans’ fish production systems.
Report product quality issues to regional Field Service Lead and file field reports as directed/required.
Maintain accountability/inventory of assigned system spare parts.
Assist production team within with parts orders, consumables, repair and return of defective parts, and requests for information pertaining to their systems.
Communicate and share system information with the regional Field Service Lead and support staff as needed.
Maintain the highest standards of safety and security at all times.
Travel internationally and domestically for Training and Site coverage support as requested by the service management team. Some weekend travel and work may be required.
1+ years of experience installing and servicing marine equipment to factory standards.. High school diploma or equivalent trade/vocational school certificate.
Troubleshoot diesel engine issues and complete Field Repairs as needed.
Ability to do a complete in engine overhaul and complete rebuilds, if necessary.
Must have good knowledge of engine systems and engine controls.
Ability to effectively evaluate mechanical and/or electrical equipment, recommend and perform appropriate, cost-effective, quality repairs and maintenance.
Must be able to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to extract necessary technical information. Experience working on the water with general knowledge of marine vessels.
Ability to work independently and complete jobs on time.
Demonstrated ability to safely use hand and power tools.
Fluent in both English and Spanish (required).
Computer software/hardware literate using both Mac and Windows software. Basic computer networking skills.
Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Passion for work with aggressive nature to succeed.
Team player with excellent planning and organizational skills. Desire to work with your hands in a highly technical field. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, climb, stoop, and bend frequently. Willing to travel for various training opportunities.
Any real-world work experience in the marine environment is a plus. A love of the ocean.
